He had hospice in his home, I believe for both of his parents.

This man deeply gets what it means to be a family caregiver.

And he is coming in with a plan.

I believe it's $775 billion plan.

to overhaul the approach to supporting caregivers.

I've heard a couple of different people speak about it who really feel that there's something hopeful here in his plan, that it really feels nuanced and robust in a way that a lot of things haven't in the past.

But still, even with great legislation coming out of Washington, there's just this morass.

You have to be really savvy to figure out where to go and where to get things and put a plan together for your family.

It's not easy to navigate.

And all of this is going to take a lot of coordination and a lot of heart and a lot of legislation and a lot of money.

You're not the person who should be asking to get compensated for that work, but we as a society should be compensating you for that work.

The amount of money that is theoretically being spent on the work that caregivers are doing that is not getting reimbursed is gargantuan.

It's huge.

And, you know, there's so much money that goes into our health care system, so much money with all of our interventions on our high-tech this's and that's.

none of it is following the patient home.

And more and more people are going home.

2017 was the first year in over 100 years where more people died at home than in the hospital.

And that's a good thing because that's where people say they want to be.

But the money's got to follow them home.

And people like you or Rick or anybody who's doing this job, this loving job of caring for someone, should never feel alone.
