The briefings come as several lawmakers consider a war powers resolution that would restrain President Trump's attack on Iran.
Both the House and Senate had already drafted resolutions long before the strike Saturday.
Under the War Powers Act of 1973, the president's supposed to notify Congress within 48 hours of deploying troops.
Then it requires their withdrawal within 60 to 90 days unless Congress approves an extension.

Remember what a relief it was last year when DHS announced people no longer had to take their shoes off when getting through airport security?
Now the Wall Street Journal says the DHS inspector general reported Secretary Kristi Noem produced a significant risk by letting that happen.
The IG says TSA scanners at many U.S.
airports can't scan shoes, meaning they can't detect any weapons or bombs that may be stashed away in footwear.
But DHS says the no shoes rule was tossed only after numerous risk assessments, some of which were done during the Biden administration.

district judge found the IRS was wrong to share information on tens of thousands of taxpayers with Homeland Security as part of a controversial agreement between the two agencies.
The IRS and Homeland Security had a deal to share last known addresses of taxpayer immigrants so ICE could identify and deport people in the U.S.
But the judge said that was a violation of IRS Code 6103, which is one of the strictest confidentiality laws in federal statute.
That agreement between the agencies also led to the then acting commissioner of the IRS to resign.
No comment on the ruling from the feds yet.
