So it's a big, grand idea.

That is a beneficial and a good thing.

It's a good purpose that excites and motivates people, but also it gives us clarity about what we're doing.

So a lot of the questions we might face, we are already pointed to the answer by that original purpose.

So things like, oh, should we... I remember when Gmail first launched, somebody said, oh, maybe we should offer free webmail accounts.

And I was like...

I don't really see how that helps build the encyclopedia.

Like, that sounds like a huge technical distraction.

It's quite hard.

It might drive us in the wrong direction.

So let's not do that.

Let's just do the thing that we are supposed to be doing.

It's not a policy page, it's more of an essay, but it's what Wikipedia is not.

And it's sort of a list of things that Wikipedia is not.

It's definitely not a giant... But it's also not TikTok, you know?

And I love a funny cat video, but that's not what Wikipedia is, so...
