And in this environment, that can lead to more conflict than it should.
And I think a lot of families quite wisely just don't go there.
But don't go there isn't the most ideal answer.
It might be better to kind of chew through these things and trying to find hope and trying to find positivity or grounds for agreement.
But certainly in broader politics, so here in the UK, my favorite example is Brexit.
So we voted to leave the European Union, and all the major political parties were against it.
I live in London, so basically you wouldn't find a single person in my social circle who was in favor of it, and that's Tories, Labour Party, it didn't matter.
But people voted for it and a big part of the problem in my view was in the media, the portrayal from all sides was basically the people who were supporting
Brexit are racist, backwards, stupid.
And I'm like, there is never a case in the history of the world where you win a political argument by calling somebody racist and stupid.
Like that just doesn't work.
Just from a purely pragmatic point of view, that's not gonna change their minds.
If you do believe it, you probably should keep a little quiet about that.
But also it's even more, it's failing to trust them as human beings to say, actually,
What are they really upset about?
And actually listen to them.
You know what they were really upset about?
It's like my kid, I live in a northern city and the economy is depressed and my kid can't afford to move to London and there's no jobs here.
What are we meant to do?
The same thing is true in like the the Rust Belt in the U.S., you know.
