I mean, we experience it all the time.
I believe that the real question is whether independence is visible in terms of how decisions are made, conflicts are managed, service providers held accountable, and members treated fairly.
So the discussion for me has moved beyond independence rather to ethical leadership,
And asking ourselves as trustees, are we exercising independent judgment?
Are we asking difficult questions, challenging the dominant voices, managing conflicts openly, you know, and making decisions that members can trust, even when those decisions might be, you know, commercially uncomfortable to do.
So in a nutshell, I think we're moving away from
Just independent, you know, are you independent trustee?
But asking ourselves, is that independence visible?
And you do that to assessing the ethical leadership of the board.
Um,
I think it was always elevated.
It is just now where we put a microscope over it because we are understanding the role of trustees in ensuring confidence in the industry, confidence of members, building the trust.
I think
the industry has evolved, right?
We've always had trustees there supported by service providers.
And we knew that the technical experience or knowledge sat there.
But now there's been a microscope over these trustees.
