I believe so, I must say.
I think that independent trustees can strengthen member confidence, right?
but only if members experience that.
And how would they experience that independence?
It's through the conduct of the fund, through their communication, because remember there's that divide, right?
We don't have a one-on-one engagement with members, but we do have a one-on-one through the policies we implement as a fund, through the communication.
So members really judge the independence by composition alone.
They judge it by the communication that they receive, how quickly the responses to their queries, you know, if conflicts are found in the media or wherever, are we transparent in the decisions we are making so that we place members' interests above institutional convenience.
And I think that's the challenge that trustees, because trust, remember, even in any relationship, trust is built when there's a consistency
between what is said and what is done.
Similarly, what does the board say and what do they do?
Because technical independence is important, you know, but confidence comes through lived experience and the lived experience of fairness, accountability, integrity, and ultimately good service delivery to members.
So that's my thing.
I think that trust, you know, it requires all of us, not just trustees, because individuals,
Industry professionals like yourself, investment managers, they all demonstrate independence and ethical leadership, which can move the dial of member trust.
And when we move the dial, it will influence members positively, which ultimately then influences member outcomes.
And I think it's an ecosystem that requires all of us to work together.
Yeah, that's the common question that, you know, is asked around umbrella funds and is always viewed as negative in a sense of place.
And, you know, the structures within a retirement industry, right, means that there needs to be a close relationship between the fund, the administrator, either the sponsor.
advisors and service providers.
