Because here's the thing.

I mean, part of the disconnect on this whole issue has been, well,

Trump often touts the military success that the U.S.

has had in carrying out a lot of the strikes on Iran.

There's been 11 straight days of strikes on Iran for the U.S., and they've inflicted a lot of damage.

But the goal that Trump has set forth isn't to just...

beat Iran on the battlefield.

It's to get them to commit not to have nuclear weapons in the future and to dispose of their highly enriched uranium that could one day be used on nuclear weapons.

So he's trying to get this more of a diplomatic goal there and to use military might to do that.

That's where the tricky part is.

Well, the Houthis have long been a problem for the U.S.

and the Red Sea when it comes to attacking ships that are transporting goods.

And so they're an Iran-backed militant group out of Yemen.

And so they announced that they're going to enforce...

a blockade in all ships coming from Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea.

And why is that significant?

Well, a lot of oil comes out of Saudi Arabia through the Red Sea.

Now, Trump was asked about this, and he really downplayed concerns there.

But just like, you know, strikes in Jordan, the idea of Yemen trying to maintain a blockade in the Red Sea points to a conflict that's not just about Iran, but becomes a larger Middle East conflict.
