We've been talking about journalism writ large and reporters as a group, but you alluded to race.
And it seems to me that certainly in the last couple of months, Trump and his movement have been increasingly overt about the nature of their project.
And their project has to do with preserving the privileged position of whites in our country, white supremacy.
How much do you think your race and Georgia Fort's race went into the decision to target you as opposed to anybody else in journalism?
Let me just ask you a question about the audience they're appealing to with this and take it from a little bit of an unusual angle.
Certainly, we have a lot of malicious actors, racists in the administration.
Donald Trump is a racist.
But when you think about the people that they're talking to, do you have any empathy for people in the country who think the country that they thought
was theirs is being taken away.
Like the fear part of it.
There are some people who might be terrified about what's going to come.
How do you process that?
Do you, do you have any empathy for that?
Or housing costs are too expensive because Latinos are competing for jobs.
buying homes.

And this is, I think, directed toward the oligarchs, not the rank and file you and I were just talking about.
but the people with a lot of money who are behind Trump.
