Well, I mean, to your point, once upon a time, a scope would have been supplemental to a lot of people.

You know, my grandfather said, ah, you don't need that.

You know, you just shoot with iron sights and whatnot.

But, I mean, the fact that almost everybody uses scopes now means they're almost not necessarily required, but certainly getting there.

and the quality of them is way better than used to be the case it is very very rare to hear of a scope fogging up these days they'll break every now and then but it is very rare to have water or moisture in of any type inside of them but that didn't always used to be the case my cousin

Went on a hunt in Africa in 2009, 2010, something like that.

And he had a scope break on him over there.

And that still happens, but it's not nearly as common as it used to be.

As far as other stuff goes...

It really depends because there's a lot of stuff that people want and aspire to have and will use even if they don't necessarily need it.

There are very few things that I think are truly, truly necessary and required with that.

Most people are never going to take a shot hunting at a range long enough that they really need a range finder, for instance.

But we have great range finders now.

And the fact that those are available...

changes the game with what people should be using and are using if you only go back 25 years uh the remington ultra magnums were brand new the weather the big weather bees and whatnot were very very popular guys wanted a cartridge that would shoot very fast and very flat and because if you a lot of them didn't have a rangefinder or if you had a rangefinder it wasn't

very accurate, very precise and whatnot.

And so the difference between, man, is that elk 350 yards or 325 yards?

Well, if you have a 300 Remington Ultra Magnum or a 300 Weatherby or something like that that's shooting really fast, well, you know, that can compensate to a certain degree on a range estimation error like that.

But now that range finders are so...

much more widespread and they're so much better and they have such a long range and all of these new features and whatnot you can get from, you know, companies like Leupold and Vortex and whatnot.
