Yeah, I I wish they would all go away.
Um people shouldn't be buying, in my opinion, gold for quick speculative gains.
I mean you occasionally get good years when it does deliver maybe twenty five percent like it did in twenty twenty, or whether it's year to date doing that as well.
But in general, one shouldn't expect to buy your Lamborghini because of an investment in gold.
R the marketing that we do and the message we try and get across is that gold should be part of your portfolio.
Um, it should be a strategic allocation.
You should hold a sensible proportion, which is probably somewhere around ten percent, maybe a bit less, maybe a bit more, depending what else is in your portfolio.
Um and it will help your portfolio performance over the long term.
It's not a s it's not a a speculative asset for that certainly from a retail perspective that that people should be looking to, as I say, buy the proverbial farm at the uh um uh at the end of the year.
There there are other assets that potentially fulfill those roles like crypto, and it is one of the things that differentiates crypto from uh from gold, is you know, much higher volatility, much greater potential for gains and losses.
I mean both of which we've seen regularly over the last ten years.
So one of the questions I get a lot, um, usually usually only when Bitcoin is flying up to its all time high.
So you're gonna say me
It's like, you know, has gold come under pressure from um from Bitcoin?
And I think the answer is yes at the margin.
Uh but it may actually be a good thing, because what it might have done is it might have taken some of the money that was expecting quick speculative gains from gold and deployed it into uh an asset class that certainly can deliver those gains, but also losses.
Uh we hear from the Bitcoin community that Bitcoin and other crypto assets are on like gold two point zero, which look sounds quite clever marketing, but is absolutely completely untrue.
If you look at the way that that Bitcoin and other crypto assets are performed
They don't do the same thing to your portfolio that gold does.
They don't diversify and reduce the risk of your portfolio.
