And they all seemed to sort of cover, they sort of go in three stages.
Here's me drinking.
It was really bad.
Here's me getting, stopping drinking.
It was really hard.
And here's me sober and it's really good.
Which is essentially true.
Sounds like a chair at a meeting.
But I had had all this new information when I stopped drinking about what alcoholism was and trying to understand myself as an alcoholic.
And what I wanted to do was with that knowledge, go back to some significant drinking experiences and find out what alcohol meant and to find out what each of those drinks was telling me about alcohol and why it was so hard for me to stop and why it made me feel better and why it made life really hard.
So in picking those drinks,
From each of those chapters, I am discovering, at the same time as the reader, hopefully, something about alcohol that I was only able to really understand as a sober person.
And there's also...
other chapters there's one about my bum and what that taught me about Buddhism and there's a chapter about
algorithms we're just going to leave it there yeah and there's a chapter about sort of algorithms in social media and what that tells me about alcohol yeah like how technology offers us convenience but actually what it removes is something we need difficulty effort struggle
Alcohol offered me a life without difficulty, effort and struggle and created a hell of a lot more than it took away.
