That if you have an employment agreement, there be specific language in there that makes clear that the corporate entity cannot control medical decisions that are made by the physician.
And then most recently, we just uh had legislation that becomes effective July 1 that bans uh essentially all kinds of healthcare providers from
from having um non competes.
And so that's gonna have a big impact on this freedom uh to have quote corporate practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, because as we've discussed, uh non competes are sort of one of the tools that are used in um establishing these kinds of arrangements.
And so we will have to see uh how that how that plays out.
Um have you seen uh other developments in corporate practice in in other states that are pretty recent since our perhaps since our talk?
I guess we we spoke at the AHLA Transactions Conference and one of the reasons that we did have this topic there is because it it does come into play with regard to healthcare transactions.
So um when you're doing uh a deal and you have to uh consider diligence in that in that deal, uh how does this come into play from your perspective?
Yes.
Well, AI is definitely something that's affecting uh all of our practices in the health care space.
But as you uh point out, um when you're when you're looking at corporate practice, um what is the purpose of the law that are that are passed?
These laws that are being passed are designed to protect the public, make sure that uh they're getting the best care possible.
And so when you think about corporate practice and you think about AI, you can see where the two could kind of collide, right?
Because some of the new uh developments
Developments in AI are going to the point where you have, for example, in the telehealth field, which I work a lot in, you have AI coming into play, helping essentially making diagnoses in these telehealth platforms and that information being passed on to patients and consumers.
And so the question is if
That's occurring.
Is that in some way violating corporate practice laws?
Now we've known about corporate practice and, for example, telehealth for a long time, and there are a lot of states where you set up these management service organizations and things in order to make sure that you're working within the requirements of a particular state's corporate practice.
But when you get into the situation where you don't even have
