Had that not happened, then Haaland probably would have gone to Real Madrid and you'd still have the Barca-Real rivalry, I think, as the biggest one in world football.

All of the big players would end up going there rather than, well, not all of them, but many of them instead of the Premier League, I think.

And so you can even make the argument, I think, and I know this is not where the question is going, but underlying it is what the status of the Premier League has now, which is easily the most moneyed league in world football,

probably wouldn't exist.

And the actual European landscape would look incredibly different, I think.

That's a good question.

I don't know.

I think it's tempting to think Guardiola comes in and gets them playing the way that Spain played this time round.

But in many respects, the way that the English football has gone, it made a degree of sense that Thomas Tuchel went the route that he went.

I think Guardiola would probably have tried to go the other way.

And he would have the option of just being able to pick anyone from England.

So he would be able to build his dream team in that respect.

So maybe we would have seen an England sort of Spanish style World Cup victory.

But there's plenty of things.

I don't know.

I find the possibilities overwhelming thinking through things like this.
