Rory doesn't need me to defend him, but I've known him a long time and I've been reading his stuff for longer than that.
He's not going to make up an opinion because he thinks it's more interesting than the one that he has.
And that is what Leinster seemed to be saying that people are doing.
Rather than saying, you have an opinion that does not align with our opinion and your opinion is based on the fact that we're not winning the trophies that everybody thinks that we should be winning.
If Leinster had won against Bordeaux last week or had they beat
La Rochelle on either of those occasions had the beat to lose.
These conversations are being had because Leinster are matching or exceeding expectations.
And they seem to believe or conflate this idea that criticism of them is unfair or criticism of them is uninformed.
They keep going back to this idea of being trolled.
Somebody having an opinion that does not align with your opinion is not trolling.
It's a difference of opinion.
That's
Rory's job.
It's every pundit's job to state their opinion.
And they seem to be really heightened against this, that people would have opinions that are not how they see themselves.
But these are all based on the fact that they're not winning elections.
They're not winning the trophies that people think that their level of talent should be delivering.
But I just think it all strikes me as very strange.
