Yeah, so there's a there was a lot in it.
So he was talking about foreign interference, he was talking about illegal immigrants registering to vote, he was talking about vulnerabilities exposed and then covered up by the so-called deep state.
There was kind of the bingo card was ticking everything off there.
But what he was saying kind of boiled down to a couple of key claims, and the most extraordinary one was that China influenced the twenty twenty election.
This is the
election that Donald Trump lost against Joe Biden.
Yeah, I mean, so immediately afterwards the White House released hundreds of documents onto their website and gave just journalists could go through them.
These were new uh they said newly declassified.
And I think it's really important that we say there have been dozens of investigations, recounts, court proceedings looking into the 2020 election, because obviously we know that Donald Trump cried foul in that one.
I think a lot of experts say it is the most scrutinized election in US history.
Nothing that Trump has said.
It really stands up.
And so I think there was a lot of expectation, given the primetime address, given how extraordinary he was making this seem, that there would be something there in those documents.
But when journalists got those documents, it quickly became clear that a lot of it was information we already knew, and a lot of it didn't quite square with what he was claiming in that speech.
So just to go through a couple of points, he talked about China.
He said that China had bought, stolen, or
hacked tens of millions of voter data files so v voter records.
But we've known this for years.
We've known that China accessed some voter records for years.
And actually a lot of these voter records are publicly available anyway.
