We also don't know whether or not they know how to make sense of it.
And then we're surprised that the spaces end up full of bullying or racial slurs or radicalization.
I mean, I don't know why we're surprised if we haven't taught kids how to deal with those kinds of things first.
Yeah, well, the first thing I would say about the younger age is that when I say that I think they should engage in social media at a younger age, I don't mean like, hey, let's give them all an Instagram account at six.
That would be really bad parenting, I think.
But what I do mean is get them involved in the sort of structure of social media.
So in my perfect world, there would be, you know, maybe you have a large extended family full of uncles and aunts, and you see each other...
for holidays, then it would be great if you had an extended family closed social network that the kids could be on.
Because you could put up photos of Thanksgiving dinner.
You could put up articles about how different people in your family, what they're up to, things like that.
And they would be able to participate and watch.
And that would be great.
You might also do that with a church group or with a soccer team.
Who knows?
But in my perfect world, there would be closed networks that grownups and kids are in together when they're little.
