I was in the car crying.

And yeah, the next year I came back, I thought I was going to make it.

I was an emergency for the team.

And then finally, when I was 17 years old, I made my first one.

So it drove me every year.

I was always right there on the cusp, but I could just never get over that hump.

And when I finally did, it felt like four years of hard work had finally paid off.

I was getting paid...

I want to say 60 grand.

60 grand for the year.

And I thought I was a multi-multi-millionaire.

I was 17 years old when I signed that and it was unbelievable.

I was so excited.

I remember it and I remember getting my paychecks every two weeks and I was on top of the world.

But yeah, that was the first ever contract I made was 60 grand with Adelaide.

Obviously nerves because I was 18, actually, and my family and friends had all flown up from Melbourne to come watch the game.

And Melbourne was the team I grew up supporting my whole childhood because my dad played there, then he coached there, and it was in Melbourne.

So there's a lot of guys in that team that I grew up like –

And then I'm on the court with them, you know, 12 months later.

So a lot of nerves, but I felt like I belonged.
