I just want to give it some time to see how these guys actually mature and reach the major leagues and to see what they do.
But with the White Sox, they were chasing exit velocity with the hitters.
And not necessarily as far as pitch velocity, but they drafted these college pitchers who are soup naters.
So they generate a lot of side spin and it kind of fits into the model of what the White Sox want to do with their pitchers.
And especially like Joey Volchko, Volchko,
from Georgia, who was outstanding in the College World Series this year against Texas.
With the amount of side spin that he has, you don't have to do anything with his fastball, cutter, and slider, but can you teach him some seam-shifted, wake-type pitches, either that's the kick change or the sinker, to make him more dynamic?
Obviously, he's a while away.
Very strong prep hitter.
So if you watch the film of him, he does a great job firing off his back hip.
And that is the trend right now when teaching young hitters to develop more power is to concentrate on how you fire off that back hip.
He won the All-American game high school championship.
Classic, I guess, is what they call it now.
He was the MVP there.
He was great in all the showcase games.
What position is he going to play?
We'll find out.
I think he's played some catcher, some third base.
He's got a strong throwing arm.
But there's a lot to work with offensively.
