There used to be this rank and rent model that was really popular in the local space where you'd

set up a website, rank it, and then, you know, sell the leads, right?

I think that I've seen as a trend at conferences that is less and less popular over the years because it's harder.

The opportunity for business owners is like they often all want to target the same things because they want to go after the things with volume.

But I would say long term it could be a good plan.

Yeah, uh so Sterling Sky started uh in twenty seventeen.

Um it wasn't a planned thing, never really wanted to be an agency owner at all whatsoever.

Um I worked at two different agencies for a total of eleven years before I went out on my own.

And I only went out on my own because um I don't know how to say this.

I'm like an overachiever, so I have really high standards and uh the place that I was working at the time

would sell SEO like crazy to businesses and they would have me be the salesperson.

So I'm selling based on all this like knowledge and expertise that I had with being an SEO for uh over a decade.

And then they would have some like junior person come in and actually work on these accounts who'd been doing SEO for like three months.

And so there's a big disconnect in the quality of work that the clients were expecting versus getting.

And it really bothered me.

Like I was not okay with it.

So I was like, I'm gonna go just do it on my own.

I actually wanted to do SEO.
