It depends on the age of the child.
You know, I'm imagining this as a, still a fairly small child.
So I might move away or I might even have to hold the child's arms.
As I say, I won't let you hit me.
I don't like to be hit and anything like that.
And then of course, if I have, if I'm present enough to be able to do it, I would say, you
You're mad.
You wanted me to give you ice cream for breakfast or, you know, why is this kid hitting me?
I want to put into words what this kid is trying to say, because a lot of kids, when they get frustrated, even kids who are verbal and I know some of your listeners have nonverbal kids.
So this definitely applies.
But even the kids who who do have a lot of language.
When they get frustrated, let's make that more generally.
When we get frustrated, we lose some of our skills.
And kids who are verbal might not be able to figure out what to say when they get mad or when they get frustrated.
So even as I'm saying, I can't, you know, I won't let you hit me.
I won't.
I don't like being hurt that, you know, ow, that hurts me.
I'll say you wanted this.
whatever it was,
