This area here, uh giving a lot of rain to the state of Florida.

We could use that here.

Uh we are undergoing a severe and even extreme drought here along the west coast of the state.

And many times you see these tropical cyclones get going in the Gulf and they can just kind of sit and give you beneficial rains.

Of course, you don't want the strong winds associated with it.

But if we don't see development, hopefully we'll see a little bit of rain across the Tampa Bay area, at least in much of the

Gulf Coast of the state of Florida from that area of weather.

Now we've got a lot of Saharan dust overhead.

This works to inhibit tropical development as well.

So we're not looking for anything to really get going.

Gives us beautiful sunsets and sunrises out there.

And as we look at the forecast right through the weekend, we keep that Saharan dust overhead.

And there are several more plumes that are just off the African coastline that'll be working its way out to the

West as well.

Now, a lot of this has to do with El Nino, which is underway in a big way over the central portions of the Pacific Ocean.

It's the very warm waters here in the tropical Pacific that help to give us the sinking motion in the Caribbean Sea as well as the Atlantic Basin.

So the air just kind of rises over that warm air mass, and on the flip side, it does sink, and that sinking motion does drive.

Dry out the atmosphere as well.

In addition to that, we have very strong upper level wind shear that we look at here in the weather center.
