They had two partial DNA profiles from the bag, one from the green towel and the hair on Gareth's hand.
They also got good news from the forensic lab.
Another partial DNA profile had been recovered from Gareth's hand itself, which they hoped would connect him directly to whoever had touched him right before his death, maybe the person who zipped and locked the bag.
Meanwhile, they still hoped to find the couple seen at Gareth's apartment and still had tests to run on his body.
The heat-related decomposition meant that it took an extra long time and multiple pathologists to reach any conclusions on the cause of death.
There were three separate autopsies, but none of the three pathologists gave a firm answer.
One said on the balance of probabilities, he was probably unlawfully killed, which is so vague.
I don't know.

They also agreed poisoning and asphyxiation were strong possibilities, but they couldn't prove either.
Everything's a possibility.
