Um the great German poet Friedrich Hödelin

um talked about um you know the the translation as uh as finding uh a sort of correspondence in something that was foreign but analogous.

It's about watching um the shapes of ideas and sounds uh shift into a new medium.

And then that of course becomes explicit, um, you know, a sculpture, you know, in stone or colour, um or between languages.

Um and so I find I think all artists translation, but of course, you know, it's very exciting to trace that movement across across languages.

And I think one of the marks of a great

poet actually, is that they change the medium as they move through it.

Perfect translation.

So there are so many answers to that.

I think um it's a very good question.

I'm often aware that

I feel I'm never sure what that I finished a translation.

Um so sometimes there's a deadline and that's that's the end of the translation.

Which is quite sometimes quite useful.

But I think they're um they often uh often I feel um

looking at it, there's something I notice, you know, and and often I leave translations for a long time.
