And of course that can go up or it can go down.

So you've got valence for free, simply because the

average of the expected free energy just is this entropy or neg entropy that uh that Mark is talking about.

Notice that there are lots of other probability distributions, you know, the state of the world uh

um beliefs in um certain contingencies or likelihood mappings or transition dynamics, but specific beliefs about what I am going to do next, beliefs over policies or condition probability probability disputes over policies.

They have an attribute of precision and that seems to explain exactly dopamine.

And it is the average expected free energy.

Uh so uh which can go up or down and and has sort of valence for free.

So I think there's a beautiful closure here.

Um, you know, i when you actually walk the path that Mark is walking.

Um Mark is walking this path, I am not, so it's unlikely I'm gonna have any answers for him.

But I'd be very interested to hear the questions.

So your your solution then is basically to ensure that we can make computers into drug addicts.

And if we can do that effectively and simulate all the uh the

the the perverse pleasure of possibly suffering, uh the the the the that's a brilliant idea.

I haven't thought about I thought you were gonna say the Saliant test or some sort of theory of mind or perspective taking, but making them into drug addicts is exactly the right thing to do.

Uh and um

I should just say that you know.

That both Mark and I are involved in a number of institutions and and bodies who are really trying to drill down on this for the common good, including the Consum uh organization and also um the California Institute for Machine Consciousness are really desperately trying to understand these issues.
