You might have noticed that I'm very careful when I write about kids and swimming.
Kids and anything, really.
I want you to hear that they're being watched over and that the event of kids being near water is already in the past.
So hey, everything went just fine.
It's just something I'm conscious of as I write.
The places your brain might get snagged on something.
I know I don't catch them all, but I do do my best.
The bit about the date burned into the platform decking was probably inspired by a feature of the yoga room floor at my old studio.
Someone had burned their initials into it at some point since it was built in the eighteen seventies.
Whenever I would find myself plupped down beside the initials, as I taught, I would trace my finger over them.
And I'm just now realizing that I no longer remember what letters they were.
I sold the studio five years ago, so that makes sense.
My own teacher would say, let things go, especially when they are in fact gone.
