And then he gets the reputation going forward as someone who was the Rooney Rule candidate.
And as we reported in this story, we talked to more coaches, we talked to some coaching agents, and a coaching agent told me that his guys, he represents a lot of minority candidates, and he said that the word Rooney now
has become this word where guys are like, I don't want to be the Rooney.
I don't want to be the Rooney rule candidate.
And this agent said he doesn't like to send his clients into an interview where he knows they don't have an opportunity to get the job.
Yeah, this was another really interesting part of the story is the league instituted this program that was actually like doing a good job.
Like it was it was seeing sort of results, but also they didn't do it long enough to see if it really would have great results or not.
But for a couple of years, they were requiring that every team have an offensive assistant that was a minority and they were funding half of that position's salary.
The league was funding it.
So that was to encourage teams to really participate in this, even though it was a requirement.
Also, it was the only it was the first and only hiring requirement that the league has ever has ever put out there for clubs, which is a big deal because the league can't like, you know, it's hard to make clubs do anything.
Right.
And so this was like a big deal for the league to do this.
And, you know, we talked to you.
Coaches, I remember I heard at the combine, someone told me, oh, that doesn't exist anymore.
And I was like, really?
Because they never announced anything about the program ending at all.
