Loneliness or some significant defeat in your life, and it's hard to believe that God is in control.
But Jesus lets you know that even when he is being flogged, even when he's being mocked and crucified, he is still the one in control of all things.
He is still king who reigns over all people.
Pilate did not take Jesus' life from him, Jesus laid it down voluntarily.
Jesus is in control.
Of your life too.
And that's why you can trust him with everything you're going through.
So, what will you do with this king?
The crowd forces that question on all of us.
Pilate points out, Behold your king.
And the chief priests say, We've got no king but Caesar.
Can you imagine that?
How stunning that is?
These are God's people.
Their whole identity was that God is their king, and to get rid of Jesus.
They pledged their allegiance to Caesar?
They'd rather have Rome than the Messiah.
See, that's the whole tragedy.
When the true king showed up in a form they didn't want, they chose a counterfeit king.
Do you and I do that?
