But uh I wanna talk a little bit about somebody who's first of all not a Santa Clara resident, so I feel like I failed in that in that effort.

But um but next year when I know more people I will find a resident.

So uh but I wanna uh talk to you guys about Kirk Fartan tonight.

Uh well, I'll say this as well.

It's a slice of New York's anniversary today.

I hear they're giving away free pie.

So if you need to go by afterwards.

Kirk's done such amazing things for our community, and this really is a testament of civic engagement, which is so core to who we are as people and so about what Santa Clara is about.

Kirk, in a tumultuous time of retail, has done something purely equitable, and in order to keep people in his business, he started co-ops.

And that means your 18-year-old slinging pizza can be a co-owner of that shop.

It's a model that he goes and trains other businesses about to show that, you know, retail turnover is terrible.

And nobody wants to work in a pizza shop long term.

But when you have that sense of pride and you become an owner, things are different.

And what an opportunity for people.

So I I'd like to first say what a model of what's going right in Santa Clara with businesses.
