Um and so those are two big pieces of our Santa Clara history.

But I want to say what's more impactful to me about Kirk.

I I don't know if you guys probably read my newsletters.

I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, but I talk a lot about grit.

And this is a gritty human right here.

Uh first of all, council is not a fun place to be.

And you'll stay there really late.

And for twenty years Kirk has been coming to council.

It has been uh such a demonstration of what makes us as uh your politicians and elected officials our best because Kirk is a pain in the ass.

Yeah.

And I'm reminded tonight that that is what the beauty of the democratic process is about.

When we are challenged and we have to get back to what our beliefs are, when we have to reconsider our choices, when somebody pushes us hard enough that it makes us uncomfortable, we become better.

And even in times when we have acted below our station.

Kirk has continued to show up for Santa Clara, and I am so.

Impressed with that in a moment right now when we I think as people need to remember that our democratic process is not perfect.

But we gotta be engaged.

And so please continue to show up, Kirk.

I hope that he is a call to action for the rest of you.
