And now the next part comes from Gypsy's own telling years later.
Now there were only two people in that room and only one of them is alive, but here's what she said what happened.

Something Gypsy only realized in the moment, and something that she says brought her relief.
Because she hadn't actually wanted to kill her mother, she says.
She just wanted out of the house.
And Dee Dee's response...
was just making up a lie because she didn't call the police.
Of course she didn't.
She invented a mugging and she told friends and neighbors that she'd been attacked by a robber with a BB gun in a Walmart parking lot.
So she just used her daughter, you know, not trying to kill her, but like trying to harm her into a Sally Saab story about her getting mugged.

And Gypsy would later describe what happened next with a phrase that captures her mother better than any diagnosis.
And that is that Dee Dee was such a good manipulator that she was able to slip her right back into submission.
And then in February of 2012, police were actually called on the Blanchards, not for abuse, but for shoplifting.
Dee Dee and Gypsy had been caught stealing from a Hobby Lobby $21.53 worth of craft supplies hidden under Gypsy's legs in the wheelchair.
So she was even using the wheelchair as a tool to use her daughter to steal shit.
