We met in college his freshman year and my sophomore year.
He was captain of his cross country and track team.
Like I mentioned, one of the fastest kids in California, just absolutely incredible runner.
And I was training martial arts since I was five years old.
I was flying in Thailand to fight.
I was staying in Japan and training with the judo Olympic team out there.
I was training at the number one college for judo out there.
And so both of us connected on this idea of like,
education, athletics and also all the things that we loved outside of of that.
Ryan's sophomore year, he got in a devastating snowboarding accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
And the supplements that I was mixing, these nootropics during that time, like 20 whatever years ago now or whenever I was in college, like, yeah, I guess like 19 years ago.
The supplements I was mixing
was the things I was giving to Ryan because he had limitations on what he could take.
And it was what allowed him to get back into school and on a scuba diving trip, which is one of the one things that as a paraplegic, you could do as well as someone with the use of their legs.
we realized that again the energy drinks the coffee these things aren't accessible approachable pills you don't want to take in public when you're out on the on a boat and diving all day it's something that energy is and focus is obviously something that you need and it became so obvious to us that creating a portable shareable simple and efficient product something like a gum or mint was an obvious answer and you know that was 10 years ago
You know, I think everything in the business is rooted in our promise of friendship.
There is a genuineness and an authenticity that I'm hoping comes through with our brand.
We also have very distinct roles in the business on how we operate.
You know, it's not like we don't get into our little scuffles here and there, especially as the business grows.
But at the end of the day, we trust each other and we trust what each other do in the decision making process in whatever department or whatever path where either of us are going down.
