So from the 1900s, maybe like 1950, 60, we can say, migrated from the South to the North.

A lot of queer people specifically are people who may have lived in the South during the 1960s, but had to leave to come to New York because of the homophobia or queer phobia that they experienced.

So they were in these churches, they were in these black churches, they were in these spaces of organizing, of protest, and they just transferred the culture into another movement.

So these are the same.

It's not just like it's emulated because I think people can often have this perception that the gay rights movement is something that white people did that perhaps emulated black civil rights movement.

It definitely emulated the civil rights movement, but it was done by black people as well as Latino and other racial groups.

But I would say black people largely steered both movements.

So that's why you can see the overlap there.

I mean, you said you didn't learn about trans people in school and that's probably something you have in common with students today because of all the bans that are being enforced and put in place to erase this history.

I think I'm luckily like in a spot where I was in high school and grade school at a time of like high progressivism and like that post Obama, like Obama into Trump.

So like these ideals were kind of forefront.

But now we're seeing a backlash and unfortunately we're running back to like that state, but hopefully people can learn more.

Oh, I mean, in terms of acceptance, like, yeah, young people really, really don't care.

I mean, of course, it's regional.
