Black immigrants, despite comprising about twelve percent of the black population in Austin, are rarely considered both in immigration support as well as the broader conversation around immigration policy on a local, state, and national level.
Black immigrants face unique challenges as not only do they have to deal with the traditional challenges that all immigrants immigrants face, but they also have to face problems that US born African Americans have to deal with.
Black immigrants are the immigrant group with the highest rates of those reporting difficulty for paying three
Paying for things like rent, food, healthcare, and more.
Black immigrants also face disproportionate levels of immigration-based discrimination, being the group most likely to uh report being told to quote go back to where they came from.
On top of this, black immigrants have to have to face many problems that US born African Americans face, such as disproportionate disorder.
Among other reasons is because black immigrants are not thought of as being a particularly large immigrant group and thus are uh considered not worth being dedic not worth dedicating the time and resources to ameliorate their problems.
And because of uh prevailing view that, as a study by BMC Health put it, quote, all black populations in the US are the same.
So I implore this body and the city of Austin to one, improve outreach, two and support of black immigrant communities in and around Austin, two, support black immigration oriented

It has been years since I've appeared before you.
I was having a problem with City of Austin Electric, but that was cured.
So a couple of things about adding ADUs and subdividable lots to the city's housing stock to try to make Austin more affordable.
I own a property in Southwest Dauston that is on a large lot.
I would love to subdivide it.
However, there are deed restrictions.
They're in the second and third pages of the PDF I sent that totally restrict subdividing, section three point zero one and use, section four point oh two, that limits the use to single family residential use, which would limit A D use.
Only our glorious leaders in the legislature can cure these items, especially for old and dormant restrictions or HOAs with crazy high percentages required for amendments.
