Uh did what did that kick in yesterday?
Yeah, I believe that was Medicaid.
The the state supplement the SNAP changes have been rolling in over a period of time.
We've also seen separate state waivers on SNAP, um which
are done differently in in each state that has chosen to pass a waiver, but those essentially restrict people from using SNAP funds to buy soda or candy.
So we're also seeing that
um make a difference for food companies though that those waivers don't lower the amount of benefits for shoppers.
You know, food companies are trying to offer products um at lower price points.
Often that means a smaller product or a different, you know, variety pack that maybe instead of 15 has 10 items, like 10 smaller bags of chips that they will offer at a lower price.
Because sometimes for lower income consumers, just the overall that that item might be
more expensive by ounce, but the overall price is still lower.
In some instances we are seeing what people call shrinkflation, you know, where they'll uh take some product out of the bag.
Um but I think also it's just
It's been a tough time for the packaged food industry.
People are also trying to eat less processed food, eat fresher food.
So there's a a slew of um dynamics converging on them right now.
Yeah, in some cases the food itself hasn't changed.
Some of the healthy choice meals are just being remarketed now as uh friendly to GLP one users.
and really leaning in on the protein and fiber.
