So the higher Himalayas are very open.

Snow leopards live above tree line.

So they really have to be good at hiding to be able to catch their prey.

And now while they don't have big predators, there is the wolf, which is an enemy for the snow leopard.

And humans have colonized this place for over 30,000 years.

And so I'm pretty sure they've been careful from humans as well.

So I think this ability to hide and disappear is both useful to hunt and not be hunted by these two other predators.

Snow leopards have this amazing ability to climb up steep slopes.

So they can get away from wolves easily if there is a big cliff nearby.

And snow leopards, on the other hand, cannot afford to even get injured because an injured snow leopard is a dead snow leopard.

The Himalayas are too difficult a place to live around with an injury.
