It's unprecedented, Don, and I don't use that word.
That's a word that gets thrown around a lot in our profession and vocation, but I'm going to tell you it's unprecedented.
Consider this.
It was just the other week, by the way, that we had the Attorney General before the House Judiciary Committee, as you recall, answering questions under oath.
Epstein's survivor is behind her that she couldn't even turn around and face and acknowledge or apologize to.
So to just have had a situation where she was under oath,
for the Oversight Committee, controlled by a Republican majority, by the way, for Republicans to join with Democrats, and not just any Republican, we're talking Nancy Mace, talking Tim Burchett, we're talking as right as it gets, okay?
Not some moderate squishes.
For those Republicans who join every Democrat and demand
that the attorney general go behind closed doors for a deposition, which carries the full weight and force of a legal judicial proceeding, where if you lie, if you are caught not telling the truth, there are real penalties that can come with that.
You are putting yourself in peril by doing this, by going behind closed doors in a deposition format.
The sitting attorney general, subpoenaed.
in part by members of her own party to answer questions not about the Epstein Files investigation per se,
but about her refusal to comply with congressional law.
It's not just about the crimes and criminal activity of the Epstein class.
It's about the potential cover-up, the appearance of a cover-up that the Justice Department is actively, under her direction, withholding documents, redacting documents, removing documents, not providing documents, all of which...
runs the risk of her being held in contempt and committing obstruction of Congress.
So we have never had this situation, to my knowledge, unfold like we had today.
And the fact that it came from a motion for the subpoena from a member of her own party was the one who initiated this.
It wasn't some Democrat gamesmanship, playing with the rules, trying to gotcha with the vote.
