This was a Republican, Nancy Mace, that was the one who offered that motion at the beginning of today's proceeding.

Never seen this before.

So this is an interesting point because she's absolutely right about this.

The format matters.

We saw what can happen.

We've seen it today with Kristi Noem even, how in a public hearing, members are constrained by the so-called five-minute rule, where you only get five minutes to ask a question.

It volleys back and forth from Republican to Democrat.

The witness can just kind of pontificate in monologue and push

back and it's all theater.

We never get any real answers in public congressional hearings.

Depositions are different.

There's no time limit here.

We just saw released eight hours of deposition footage of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

You have to sit there all day long.

and answer the question.

She could sit there and try that shtick again, and they can sit there and go, okay, that's nice.

Now answer the question.

And they can ask her that over and over and over.

And it is much harder to filibuster in a closed-door deposition the way that it is in a public hearing.

So the format is incredibly important.
