We were getting a lot of 94 pitches to get through four and a third innings.
It just wasn't good for anyone.
When his fastball command is on point, he can do what we saw him do against the Giants, what we've seen him do in the past against the Nationals with a no-hitter.
When he was with the White Sox, he took another no-hitter into the ninth.
This is what he's capable of.
It just comes down to fastball command with him, and he's had it more often than not this year.
Yeah, the simple fact that the American League has been as bad as it's been has been the Blue Jays' saving grace.
Look, this has not been a great year for them, and we knew coming in that they were going to have a lot of issues injury-wise in terms of their starting pitching.
They had four starters open the year on the IL.
Now some of those guys have come back, but it takes time to ramp up.
They've had to put some Band-Aids on, signing guys like Patrick Corbin.
At the end of the day for the Blue Jays, as bad as this has been, as much as they've had a lot of guys not performing, Vlad Guerrero Jr., George Springer, Andres Jimenez, the pitching injuries,
They're still in it, and they're in a good spot.
So we'll see what happens.
I really think these next two weeks and how the Blue Jays perform are going to decide for them should they be aggressive because even if they're able to just get back to 500 and be in that six wildcard spot, yeah, they should buy.
Whereas if they struggle and they go into a tailspin here and we look up two weeks from now and they're now eight games out,
eight games under 500, it's not going to make sense.
So they and a lot of other teams in the American League are right on that line where what happens these next two weeks are going to determine which direction they go.
Everything.
It's really, really bad in San Diego right now, and that's where, from a Blue Jays perspective, you actually feel okay going into this weekend series.
