Really, the only guys they can move are those relievers and potentially Michael King, but that puts them right back in the spot.
They don't have enough guys to cover enough innings in the starting rotation.
What happens these next two weeks is going to determine which direction the Padres go.
But given everything we've seen, and even when they were playing well, they were getting lucky with a lot of crazy comebacks that were not sustainable.
It's not like this was a team that was actually performing well day in and day out.
I think there's a real chance we see the Padres sell a lot of their bullpen pieces to try and just get a little more from a position player standpoint and starting pitching standpoint and a youth standpoint, because they need a little bit of everything.
It's not like this is a team with one problem.
This is a team with a lot of holes.
Yeah, no, still doing all the work, you know, talking to scouts, talking to scouting directors, getting a feel for this year's class.
This is a class that is very, very deep in college position players.
There's a lot of collegians who you can see coming up and making an impact and getting to the majors in under two years.
There are some good high school players as well.
More tools than polish.
I would say the high school class isn't as deep or as good as it has been in
previous year's position player wise but still solid there's not a ton of pitching in this year's draft class outside of jackson flora who is a potential frontline starter out of uc santa barbara he's going to go top five after him there's some interesting high school arms but we know how risky those are and the college arms aren't great from the blue jays perspective it's really interesting since 2014 their top pick every single year has been either a pitcher or a shortstop
high school college all of it but we know that's the demographic they like and they've liked for a decade there's not a lot pitching wise there is a lot position player wise so look we know they're not picking till way way way down in the draft 39 so trying to say who they're going to get this point's a fool's errand because so much is going to happen ahead of them but they are going to have a nice group of short stops to pick from and there are some interesting high school arms that do fit in that
Pick 30 to pick 50 range, they'll have some options to choose from.
So they'll have some good options.
But yeah, it's an interesting class in terms of it's very college heavy.
The pitching, it's a lot of question marks.
