For people who are like, look, I don't really want to stay at home.
Well, fine, don't stay at home, but do all the fun things, you know, have the extra holidays with them, you know, that kind of stuff, the things that you enjoy.
And as they get older, I'm really appreciating that.
I think it does.
You know, you think about your parents who like, I don't want to retire, you know, and most of us don't want to do nothing.
You know, we want to do something, but we want a bit more discretion.
And I think that the retiring early has been code for that.
People sort of hear for retiring early and think, oh, do you mean I'm going to go sit on a beach and drink pina coladas for the next 50 years?
Most people have realised.
But we've ended up with, like, this incredible plethora of acronyms.
It's a fascinating Google search, the alternatives to fire.
You know, there's work optional and there's a flamingo number and there's all sorts of, you know, lean fire and fat fire.
Oh, it's fascinating.
So everyone's got a different take on this.
And I reckon the reason so many of them have come through like this is because retiring early just doesn't hit the mark.
It does not say what it means.
It's a beautiful acronym.
We love fire.
Beautiful.
But it doesn't do it.
