We've got a very old system that relied on people being able to find steady, stable jobs elsewhere.
And it's just not how it's likely to be.
The gig economy is not serving that purpose.
And so I feel like there's a risk there that as well you're going to find yourself stuck working into your 70s and 80s because you can't afford to retire even with the pension, which is a big risk.
Oh, man, if we even have one.
Yeah, it's fascinating, isn't it?
Well, having seen the trend over the last however many years we've had it, you know, like it's been decades, right?
It hasn't improved markedly.
Relative to our incomes, it is still low.
It's still our poverty line.
And I think that's not a good thing to aim for.
You know, we want to aim for something a little bit more comfortable, I would think, most people.
Yeah, look, that's such an important point, that critical thinking.
And there is a human inclination, I think, that we want a recipe.
We want it done for us.
Just tell me what percentage do I need to save and where do I need to put it?
And that's why it's really attractive when someone says to you, here's the recipe, follow my steps and you'll be fine.
And it is possible to get the kind of recipe that is a minimum effective dose for everybody.
You can get those kinds of recipes, but it's very rare that it's going to be the best recipe for everybody.
It's maybe going to get you all on average to do okay.
