With our flaws, our passions, our triggers, our inspirations and our imprints.
If we could see behind everyone's story, then perhaps what we would have is deep compassion.
In this podcast, I get the chance to explore these stories from some truly fascinating people in some honest and heartwarming conversations.
And best of all, I get to share these discussions with you.
I'm Leil Stone and this is Humans Being.
Welcome to Humans Being.
I'm Lael Stone.
My humanness this week is all about our lineage and our ancestors.
And what I've been thinking a lot about this week is really where I have come from.
And I I'm thinking back maybe 20, 30 years ago when my grandparents were still alive.
And I was in that phase of my life where I didn't
really that interested in who they were and where they'd come from.
And yet the older I get now, the more I wish I could sit down and have a conversation with them to hear more about their lives, more about what they navigated, more about the struggles that they experienced.
And there's just this really deep yearning, I think, in me at the moment as I age to know more about my bigger picture story.
I have such a beautiful love for systemic work, and I've been studying family constellation and systemic work for the last few years.
And systemic work always highlights the places that we've come from and the stories that our ancestors have carried.
And I really do see the importance of the acknowledgement of them and the honoring of what has come before us, particularly the sacrifices that many generations.
Before of before us have made in order for us to be where we are.
So I'm really just sitting with this, I guess maybe you could call it a longing or a yearning to maybe wish that I could have those conversations again.
And also just appreciating that I can stand in a place and turn towards the future for my children and perhaps my great-grandchildren, knowing that what stands behind me is some pretty amazing.
