Again, today he has in the past since he's been as named head coach of
like board battles, second efforts on pucks, like the effort defensively, all those things that it doesn't matter your skill level.
Those are like willingness and understanding the situation and being hard to play against.
All of those things are parts of the game that you can really set in practice.
And him having the understanding that, you know, for the next bit here,
you can easily make the argument that practice is more important than the games.
And really hammering that competitive edge in practice, all of that, that's, again, something that you'll be able to see right away, kind of like the end of last season.
The wins might not be there every night, and realistically, they're not going to be there every night.
But the effort that the guys put in and seeing different parts of the game start to come along as the year goes...
A D zone that looks a little bit scrambly at the beginning of the year starts to have some structure after a month or so.
And just keep building those little steps as you go along.
It's massively important, right?
And regardless of trying to find their value again in all of it, just for all the guys that are going to be wearing that crest and playing for the team, they need to know at the beginning, because the other part of this that is important
really important when you're talking about going into the season this year is training camp is basically non-existent and there's four pre-season games like there's not a ton of time to teach right so trying to put in a really simple system that is easy to build off of right start with the basics start in front of your net within five ten feet
and then you start building your game out from there because when you settle up the defensive side first, the D, especially the young ones, but even a Marcus Pedersen, for Marcus Pedersen to be a really effective player, he needs structure and he needs guys that can make the play once he makes that first simple pass.
He's not someone that's going to be finding lanes through all over the place as systems break down.
He's really good when he can anticipate and move from that.
So again, you start in front of your net, you make sure that that's dialed in, and you just kind of keep cutting the ice by 10, 20 feet and keep building your game out from there and try and put in that predictability for them to make those reads and plays that much easier.
Oh, for sure, and it's something that I've talked to some guys around the league as well that are more bottom six guys or guys that are in the American League that are looking to punch through and get their chance this year.
That's where it's going to matter the most, other than you're trying to get your team ready with team philosophies and structure.
