When you look at those individuals, there's a lot more stress that comes into training camp because you don't have 10 days before you get to
preseason and then you have another seven games on top of that to really show what you can do and try and you know say you're battling for one spot with someone but that guy was on the team last year he's kind of got the inside track like you had more runway before now like you better be ready to go from the very first time you touch the ice because your your window to show the the coaches and management what you can do like it is significantly shorter
Oh, it's a massive opportunity for them.
And, you know, first of all, like, congrats to Chase as well.
Like, getting to know him that little bit following and calling the games with Brandon Astle through that Calder Cup run, like, that's a really impressive guy that, you know, like, Manny and RJ have talked a lot about.
Like, you know, wasn't the best guy on the team, but instantly showed, even at a young age, that he was the leader of that team.
And you could see it through the playoff run.
Like, he's earned this.
And
and the opportunity that is in front of all those guys that are in Abbotsford, that for a while you could see the people in front of you, and it's hard to find the light in that and see where your opportunity can come from.
Well, right now, regardless of you making the team out of camp or getting sent down and starting the year in the American League,
You've got to make sure you put that best foot forward because you know there's going to be a lot of transactions going up and down.
That's what a rebuild is.
You give as many people a chance because you don't know what might happen when they get that opportunity and what that player might be able to do.
Not that you don't have to make sure you're ready and playing good in the American League, but you have a really good opportunity in front of you.
If I was that early 20s guy that's looking for his first opportunity, first chance...
Like, I'm foaming at the mouth right now going into summer training excited of the opportunity that's there.
I think we'll see a lot more of that pretty quickly.
Before, it was still, in past years here, until a couple months into the season last year, it was still we're trying to find a way to make playoffs and give ourselves a chance to take a run at it.
That's a really tough way to keep giving young guys a chance.
