So these single women are spending more on clothing and beauty, of course.
But interestingly, they're also spending more on things like pets and education.
One thing I read that I thought was really interesting is that they love a bargain hunt, which if you look at startups like The RealReal, which recently IPO'd and it's done really well, makes a lot of sense.
So I don't know if it's widely known that companies have to rewrite the marketing rules, but it certainly would be advantageous for them based on the data we've seen.
It sounds like women prefer to spend more on things like new cars rather than old cars, which men like, though they're spending roughly the same amount.
Women also seem to be interested in features within cars, like cup holders, for example, much more attractive to women.
And they're spending less on alternative vehicles like motorcycles, which we know in our piece could hurt companies that have traditionally done well there with male spenders like Harley-Davidson, for example.
Yeah, so women seem to really like environmentally friendly products.
Recent experiments we've seen have found sales go up among women when clothing comes with labels detailing environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
But oddly, the labels have no discernible impact on men.
Yeah, I mean, what we're seeing now is such compelling data that women are more educated, right?
They're working more full time.
They're delaying marriage.
They're becoming more of the primary breadwinner or at least contributing more to their household income.
Yet there's this dearth of research in this area.
And so we wrote the piece with the idea in mind that investors who can take note now will be way ahead of the curve once this inevitable research does come.
