But Bob holds it for him.
And I just thought that was a very, very interesting idea that there are people who do that.
Yes.
Yes, that's exactly right.
What's so beautiful, I think, about the storytelling is just as we feel Elizabeth Strout telling us the story, so Olive and Lucy connect through telling these, as you say, unrecorded stories and see the importance of them.
And so my point about Bob Burgess and feeling like no one is hearing him and understanding the importance of...
of these fragments from his life, is that Lucy does.
And Lucy says something to Olive about how lucky you are if there's one person who you really, truly love and understands you and you have somebody to tell your most important things to.
And I just thought that is so true, that it's very rare to have someone who really, really listens.
Oh, I find him very funny.
I mean, it reads a bit like a radio play.

And I love that.
It's funny...
What I feel about the first book, which you say is about old people, I don't see it as about old people.
And nor in a way do I see this about old people, because I think what he's doing is he's showing us that actually people are people.
And it's the way that we tend to see people differently.
You know, just the surface of them.
And yet all these people in this home are thrown together.
They have to be there.
