And I'd notice, and I can relate to it so much, I noticed that he would jump into like,

different interests at a different time, but he would know everything about it.

And it's funny because with BPD and with Dan, he struggled with self-esteem a lot.

He was diagnosed with dyslexia.

Later, near his kind of leaving cert years, he was finding it really hard, didn't know why.

And also he was like a late sprouter in terms of like he didn't grow height until like later on in life.

So a lot of people who know him now, he's like, or who knew him then, he was so handsome and very charismatic.

So I don't think anyone would have known unless you really knew Dan how much his self image shifted.

You could see him and he'd have his hair dyed pink, blonde, and he was totally himself, but his self image would shift a lot, you know.

Okay, right.

I think honestly, if I was to look back, I think always, I think always with them again with BPD.

And I want to bring it back to because I feel like there isn't enough awareness around it.

We only figured out again, like later, just a couple of years before he passed that he had that diagnosis of BPD.

And it's really important to mention because 10% of people with BPD will complete suicide and up to like 7 to 10 will have at least one attempt, you know.

So it's, yeah, it's, we didn't know.

And I was in the middle of my training for psychotherapy when Dan passed away.

So if I'd only knew really how severe it was and how serious that diagnosis was, I think, you know, we would have moved a little bit differently.

But again, that's the bargain inside of grief, isn't it, you know?
