Absolutely.
So the self-image is a huge one, right?
The one that shifts in and out.
Like myself, I noticed he had bouts of dissociation where he'd feel a little bit disconnected and that comes up when you're really dysregulated.
His relationships were a big struggle for him as well.
He had lots of girls who loved him.
Yeah.
In his relationships, you'd see he'd have this very intense fear of abandonment.
That's a big part of BPD.
Intense fear of... So friendships and like girls, everything.
For sure, for sure.
When I think of Dan, the only person, and he, by the way, now had friends, partners who idolised him and he idolised them right back.
But the one person I think he could fully trust with all of him because of the BPD was my mum.
Oh, 100%.
Like, that was his ride or die.
She knew everything about him, the good, the bad, the in-between.
The hard thing with BPD is that you have impulsive behaviours, you have outbursts and dysregulation, but you have your, he's, like I said, really intelligent, you have your wits about you, you have these impulses, these outbursts, and then all the guilt of someone who knows right afterwards, you know, so...
I think he struggled with immense shame in those later years, but also pockets throughout his life.
It just, you know.
I think I always knew that like the dysregulation was there, even though I couldn't really put a name to it.
