Yeah, spot on.

So like we need to test vaccines in a whole range of people as well.

So you need different ages and all sorts of ethnic diversities to show that it does work, not just in the one cohort.

Well, there's a lot.

So it kind of depends on the measure that we're using.

But about 90,000 Australians took place in clinical trials in 2022.

And that's a slight dip in the number of volunteers from 2019.

At the moment, there's about 6,500 registered trials recruiting for participants.

Yeah, at the moment.

And most of them are in Victoria and New South Wales, where there's bigger population and more developed clinical trial infrastructure.

So they're registered trials with ethics approvals.

And I should say some of those trials might be recruiting right around Australia.

Most of the funding to run clinical trials, that comes from commercial sponsors.

So that includes pharmaceutical companies.

But there's some other trials as well that get a mix of different funding.

So some of it is government funded.

Some of it is not-for-profit funded.

Some of it is grant funded.

So the key word here is reimbursed.

And it might sound a bit like splitting hairs, but to the research community, it is important.
