It brings to the the point of keeping very good uh records and very good digital records.

And I reckon uh you know, I I it would be in a minor minority, but there are, I reckon, still some sole trade, some business owners that are quite old school and keep records paper rather than digitally, especially if you're uh an owner of a business that's been going for a very, very long time.

And I can speak in it for experience of that.

out of uh my wife's grandfather was running a business up until a few years ago, well into his nineties, never used a computer in his life.

Uh he wouldn't have a clue uh b about how to do any of this and all the records were uh basically paper uh and it was a complete nightmare when the when the business was wound down.

Also should uh shout out here the end of this article is a question that says can I get an exemption from using making tax digital?

I did smile a little bit at this.

So it says you can apply for an exemption if you think you're digitally excluded.

This means it is not reasonable for you to use the software to keep digital records or submit them.

There are different reasons why this might apply to your circumstances, but this could be down to your age, disability, health condition, or location stops you from using a computer, tablet or smart smartphone.

I kind of can imagine quite a few people just going, Don't use a smartphone or a computer so I d didn't wanna do it.

Um I don't know how H and R C are gonna treat it by a case by case basis and how they decide.

Uh who you can get away with not doing it.

Exactly.

Yeah, it's it's so trade as landlords and it's really the income that's made from that.

I agree with you.

Yeah, 'cause there's lots of facets to people's finances, whether you're just deciding it or not.

Well, standard life of one of the the big pensions giants in this country and have some of the the biggest experts and a lot of people who uh like you guys are just saying will be asking questions over what this means for them.

And actually they had a a survey out, 22% said they had less faith in pensions, learning that uh unspent pots will become liable for death duties from next year, as we're saying.
